From the moment the chat opened, we had women joining from LA, NYC, London, Poland, Chicago, Vegas, Arizona, New Jersey, Central California and more – all dropping their LinkedIn's, cheering for each other, and saying, “We are in your corner.”

It felt less like a Zoom call and more like a global Friendsgiving for ambitious women in beauty.

Here are a few of the big themes that came through:

1. You are not the only one feeling this way

We had women share about:

• Being laid off (sometimes more than once this year)

• Applying to hundreds of roles with no response

• Being ghosted, or only learning they didn’t get the job when someone else posted it on LinkedIn

• Feeling like they “should be further along” by now

And every time someone opened up, the chat exploded with:
“You’re not alone.”
“We’re in your corner.”
“Keep going – the right yes is coming.”

If you’ve been feeling isolated in your job search or career pivot, the replay will remind you you’re so far from alone in this.

2. Discomfort is the doorway, not the problem

We went deep on the idea that confidence doesn’t come first – courage does.

We talked about the very real discomfort of:

• Advocating for yourself in a year-end review instead of hoping they “see your value”

• Asking for the raise you’ve earned (before anyone offers it)

• Having the courage to ask your company to pay for your development

• Getting laid off and deciding that your story doesn’t end there

• Showing up to interviews as yourself, not a watered-down, “perfect fit” version

The message:

That shaky voice? That’s courage.
The email you almost didn’t send, but did? Courage.
The moment you stop waiting to be chosen and choose yourself? That is courage.

If you need a reminder that your discomfort doesn’t mean you’re failing – it means you’re growing – you’ll want to hear this part again.

3. Community over competition

One of my favorite things about these sessions?

Women aren’t gatekeeping.

They were:

• Dropping LinkedIn links and saying “connect with me”

• Offering mentorship to recent grads

• Sharing recruiter tips and tools

• Setting up coffee chats and 1:1 calls

• Celebrating each other’s wins, big and small

This is what I always envisioned Beauty Career Lab to be: A room full of women who lift each other up, share the real story, and don’t want to win alone.

We also talked about:

• Turning imposter syndrome into a superpower by letting it remind you to stay curious and keep learning

• Remembering that your mind is the power that manifests your future and how you talk to yourself matters
